Deer Haven

Twelve years ago Derek and I went on our first official date. We lived in Cedar City and so I took him to Deer Haven which is up Cedar Canyon. Our stake always went to girls camp up at Deer Haven so it holds a special place in my heart :) (cheesy) Anyway we went up there and went hiking and I told him stories about camp (i'm sure he was extra attentive cause we were dating :) Before we left we each carved our name in a tree by the cattle guard entrance and Derek put the + sign and the date. We went back up to see the tree in '06 and he carved the '06 in. The tree looked like it had caught on fire at some point but it is probably just a disease in the tree cause none of the trees around it were blackened! This year I went to girls camp with my friend Jackie's ward and I had to check on the tree :) It was still there but part of Derek's name had fallen off :( (I have pictures of 1997 and 2006 but my scanner won't work...grrr) So now Derek and I need to go back there together and pick a new tree to carve our names with our kids :) (Yes, I know it's not good to carve in trees, but I'm gonna do it anyway:)

I know you are loving the girls camp hair and dirty face :) That was day four this year.

I know the names are hard to see, but they are there!

Allergies.....

We have had a heck of a spring and into summer with allergies. My kids were so sick all the time, we paid our pediatrician's mortgage several times over (I'm sure) with all the trips to the doctors office! Anyway I made an appointment to see the allergist. Before our appointment I tried to clean my house the best I could....I threw out all our pillows and bought new ones, I had the carpets cleaned, I had maids come and clean. Those things helped a little but Zack and Matt were still having problems breathing. So appointment day came and the kids had to all be scratch tested... you can see how fun that was for them :)

Kaia's back

Matty's back

Zack's back
Well the results came back that they are allergic to just about everything collectively! The boys are allergic to cats... Kaia is allergic to dogs. The boys are allergic to molds, grasses, and trees... Kaia is not. Kaia and Zack are allergic to weeds... Matty is not. Zack is allergic to cockroaches and dust mites... Matty and Kaia are not. So we have covered the gamete of things and collectively they are allergic to it all! They have a slew of medicines to take day and night and during the day if they can't breathe. Needless to say we had to get rid of Kaia's cat. I told Zack first that we would have to get rid of the cat and he asked, "Do we really have to kill her?" I laughed and told him that we just had to find a new house for her. Once he realized Kitty would get to remain alive he was okay with that :)The girl I share a contract with at Foothill wanted to take her so two days after our diagnosis we took Kitty over to her house. Kitty is doing well there and the kids can go see her when they want to. Ahhh allergies! Can't wait till next spring!
